Muhammad Ali (Cassius Clay)
(An ode to the “Greatest” boxer of
all time)
He said, “I fly like a butterfly, I sting like a bee”
The greatest boxer of all time Muhammad Ali
He could dance around in circles and he had a lethal swing
When he hit those guys with his right their jaw would really
sting
When they got into that ring with a date to rendezvous
Foreman, Liston, Frazier, and Henry Cooper too
He would tease them with his left and he would punch them
with his right
Fans were screaming “Ali, Ali”, enthralled with the fight
Tyson tried to take him yes he tried like the rest
However, everybody knew Muhammad Ali was the best
Cassius Clay was his name back then when he came to fame
When you hit the canvas you were there ‘til the count of ten
He was an icon in the boxing ring all the fans were off
their seat
He would proclaim to the crowds “I am the greatest, I can’t
be beat”
As he was getting older and he didn’t have the speed
The inevitable would happen and he would face defeat
Norton, Berbick , Frazier, Larry homes and Leon Spinks
Were the only guys to beat him in the boxing rink
Ali even knew that it would eventually come
His energy would dwindle and he would have to succumb
He will always be remembered the greatest fighter who ever
lived
Especially as a boxer he had so much to give
It was a sad day in Arizona on June third 2016
America lost their “Greatest” champ…… of the boxing ring.
