“Lonely In Church”

“Lonely In Church”
(A true story…1988)

There is a prayer meeting tonight and Im going to church, I have to try and end my search
To find you Lord my heart is broke, I need to meet some other folk

My heart is so broken not sure if I should, I dont want to sit around and brood
Im reaching for you I need you so, please Lord Help me if I should go

I will walk in the room as quiet as can be, dont want to draw attention you see
I will sit at the end no-one will know, the pain that I feel and dont want to show

They all have a prayer I look around; Im feeling quite nervous I hear no sound
People are mumbling not sure whats going on, Im really wishing now that I was gone

The meeting is over Im sitting alone, feeling lonely all forlorn
Theyre chatting and talking amongst themselves, feeling like I fell off a shelf

No-one said hi or even goodbye, I feel like I just want to cry
They sound so spiritual with each other, but looking at me they didn’t even bother

Im feeling worse than when I came in, I didn’t even get a grin
Heading out the door Im feeling down they didn’t know I was around

Walking up the aisle of the church, this is the end of my search
The tears come rolling down my face; I leave the church in disgrace

I cannot see my eyes are blurred now Im feeling just like a nerd
Why God why oh cant you see, the hurt thats churning inside of me

With all that mumbling and all that prayer why does no-one really care?
On the outside they look so right but on the inside theyve lost their sight

They didn’t know that you were there, did they really look to care
Of a sinner coming in that door spiritual clothes is all they wore

Im glad you care Lord more than the others
They only love each other those sisters and brothers

Im heading home now to take my life Ive had enough of all this strife
Cant take no-more my heart is broke Ive had enough its just a joke

Does anyone care just tell me Lord show me somewhere in your word
Ive stretched myself to its length Im feeling tired I have no strength

Give me an answer and if you do, I will promise to always follow you
Please mend my heart its broken in two I honestly dont know what to do

"Goodnight, sleep tight."

"Goodnight, sleep tight."

When you're tired at night, it's time to lay your body on the bed

It's time to go to sleep you have thoughts, swirling through your head

As your mind fades away, you now fall, in to a deep, deep, deep sleep

You have dreams in your mind but you're not sure, what they really mean.

Sometimes scary a nightmare, they frighten you deep inside your soul

You are restless, start to sweat, heart pumping fast, you think you're in Sheol

When you're sleeping at night, you're not aware of what's really going on

The world is moving around while your body lies in bed alone

Not aware of your existence, not even knowing, you're lying on your bed

Your subconscious and your mind doesn't know, if you're alive, or your dead

Then the morning time arrives, eyes open wide and this is what you say

I now know that I'm alive, I can enjoy, I can live another day

Finally, the day is over, I go to bed and I do it all again

But will I wake up in the morning, to enjoy, yes, to live another day

When you go to sleep at night, no opportunity, to give a farewell wave

It may be the last time, as you close your eyes, as you're heading for the grave

Don't be scared at this time, this is how, all of life will end.

“Memories hidden in the back of my mind”

“Memories hidden in the back of my mind”
(A poem about dementia & Alzheimer’s disease)

I’m sitting looking out the window thinking of days gone by
The times I looked up at the rainbow as it spanned across the sky
The family were young, full of life they played and worked until dawn
Enjoying the sun all day long until it was faded and was gone
I would bake, sew and knit, re-using old clothes that were worn
I’ve loved my kids every day from the first day they were born

There was a flurry of activity around my home when the kids came home from school
Drinking milk, cookies, and lots of snacks they would eat till they were full
They’re all grown up now playing with friends finding their way through life
One day the boys will meet a girl and take her as his wife
The girls they’re playing with their dolls along with their girly toys
Dressing up and brushing their hair with the hope to meet some boys

Life goes on and they’re married now they have a life of their own
It’s funny how they don’t look back to see that I’m all alone
The cookies, muffins, the baking I did and the meals that we all shared
I’m getting older time’s slipping away I thought they would have cared
All these things are thoughts I have of the memories that I could find
They were lurking in the back of my head before I lost my mind

I’m in a home now that’s for seniors you know, when you can’t remember when
My memory is fading really fast as I write this with my pen
My kids, they thought it best for me to send me to this place
So they could live their life in peace not having to see my face
You see, no one knows these thoughts I have they think that I have gone insane
They don’t see my inner hurts they just don’t see my pain

As I’m staring at the walls, for now, people going to and fro’
No one comes to see me anymore it’s nearly time for me to go
Oh! Yes, the muffins, the baking the meals we all shared those memories I make them last
The times we cuddled and loved each other are just things of the past
The children finally get the call to let them know I’ve gone
To my final home up in the sky, at last, I’m not alone.

Tim Horton's Poppy Doughnut

Royal Legion complains about Calgary Tim Horton's making Poppy Doughnuts.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the poppy doughnut. This is just the Royal Legion once again trying to control everyone, just because they have the rights to the poppy. When people make things like this, they do it all with good intentions and not to be disrespectful. It just so happens that, people nowadays just become so offended by anything, even though it wasn't meant to offend anyone, it was just a nice gesture, that's all. I remember a while back, I made a woodcraft carving which displayed Vimy Ridge and the poppy. I sent it to the Royal Legion to see if they wanted to make it available for their veterans, they said no, as I wasn't allowed to use the poppy for commercial purposes. This is a lie, if you go on their website shop, you will find countless articles for sale, cups, hats, watches etc; all for sale. Well, some company had to make these items commercially in order to sell them to the Royal Legion. The Royal Legion is just nitpicky about what they want. The craft that I made, was actually suggested to me by a 14-year-old teenager. He told me what he wanted and I made one. They did a study on Vimy Ridge at school and he asked me if I could make something like this. The finished product is quite attractive and veterans who have visited my home just love it. There again, I could use a rose or a lily which the Royal Legion doesn't own. Royal Legion, grow up.
When I made these wood products to be displayed in homes, is was so that we would remember all year round about those who gave their lives, not just one day each year.

If anyone wants to see the finished product contact me at

"Living in this world together"

"Living in this world together"

We have to stop hurting people this way;
We have to stop hurting no matter what they say
We have to love everyone, even if they're gay;
We have to live our lives together every single day

You don't have to believe on how people live,
'cause deep in their hearts they have a lot to give
I believe that we all come from God above;
We have to live with our neighbors and show them God's love

Life is very short to bicker and fight,
We protest against each other as if it's our God given right
If your skin's a different color, yellow black or white
God, He loves us all, we are precious in His sight

Hatred and racism, you know they have no place
To accept one another no matter what our race
What a better world we'd live in, if we could all agree
It's better to love and smile to those that we meet

You believe what you believe and I'll believe in mine
But for the most part we agree most of the time
I'm a little different from the way that you are
But this is no reason to keep us far apart

If you want to come for dinner, you're welcome to my place
'Cause I believe in Jesus and I love the human race
If you hold that against me and what I believe
The door is always open and you're welcome to leave

Bigots, haters', racists wherever they can be found
Our world would be much better if they were not around
Muslims, Hindus, Christians and even the Jew
God created everyone He loves all of you.
